April 9, 2007 - French Government will not block the NPL Paris Event

Several media sites are reporting that the French Government will not block the National Poker League (NPL) event scheduled to debut in Paris May 13th at the Cercle Gaillon.

The first place we discovered the article was at Launch Poker but after some more research it appears the story probably originated from this press release.

This was a great concern initially considering other tournaments have been blocked by governments who have strong stances against online gambling. This linked press release indicates that because the NPL is not associated with any online poker room the tournament has their full support.

This tournament will have a prize pool of more than $3,500,000.
