15, 2007 - Eighteen Year Old Poker Prodigy wins Paris
Grand De Prix
Eighteen year old poker prodigy, Will Ma, has taken down
another big prize pulling of the championship at the Paris
Grand De Prix poker event. This event was initially
scheduled to be a WPT event but the plug was pulled on
that by the French Government who refused to let the WPT
take the event. While Will Ma does not have the WPT title
he probably deserves he did pocket $574,068 for the first
place victory.
Will Ma won the Poker Stars leaderboard in March of 2007
and has been the talk of online poker ever since. At just
18 years old he has cashed in more online tournaments that
a typical player will in a life time. With this victory at
the Paris event he has shown his talents expand well
beyond the internet realm. While some pros did not make
the trip there was still quite a field in this event. Will
Ma outlasted many well feared tournament sharks such as
Freddy Deeb, Ram Vaswani and Jeff Lisandro.
Will Ma was actually behind when they players were heads
up but gained a lead when
Runarsson pushed all in holding KQ on a flop of 5 Q T
rainbow. Will Ma quickly called with AA to take a
commanding lead which he never relinquished.
