January 19, 2007 - Denmark's
Great Dane wins the Aussie Millions main event.
The Great Dane, Gus Hansen,
has added another major tournament win to his already
impressive resume. On January 18. 2007 Gus Hansen captured
the Aussie Millions main event titled and pocketed the
$1,500,000 first place prize.
There were rumors flying
around last year that Gus Hansen's 3 WPT titles were a
fluke. Gus has a wild nature at the table and has been
known to call all ins with random cards other players
would consider unplayable. Players began to say things
like "Gus Hansen donked off several million and his bad
play has finally caught up with him".
I think now it is safe to say
Gus Hansen is the read deal. No player is going to win 4
majors all on luck alone, while his play style might be
unconventional it is clear Gus Hansen is the real deal.
Gus was an inaugural member of
the WPT hall of fame and in our opinion he is a strong
candidate for a future induction into the coveted Binion's
Poker Hall of Fame.
We congratulate Gus on his
championship and look forward to announcing his next big
tournament win.
We will report more as
information becomes available.
