A lot of us were concerned six months ago what might happen with less Americans in the market but so far things have proven very advantageous for European players. We are really looking forward to the inaugural WSOP Europe event as this has a lot of promise and a strong chance at becoming the World's most prestigious tournament.

An Irishman named Marty Smyth just pulled off a large upset to claim the Irish Poker Open title which came with a cash prize of €650,000. In order to gain this title he had to go through a very strong final table which included Roland De Wolfe (who recently won a major tournament in Dublin – An EPT event) and internet poker wizard Sorel Mizzi who is still to young to play in U.S. tournaments..

Gavin Griffin from Illinois USA was at one time the youngest player to ever win a WSOP Bracelet (2004) he has since proven his victory was no fluke. Coming off a 3rd place finish just a month earlier at a WSOP circuit event Gavin won the biggest tournament and cash prize of his career. Last night (April 2, 2007) he secured the EPT Grand Finale Title which included a $2.43 Million dollar cash prize.. (Read more)
